Feng Shui Fundamentals
Before you begin to master the art of Feng Shui, familiarize yourself with its basic concepts, such as yin and yang, qi energy, five elements and the ba-gua octagon.
Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang – means two opposing cosmic forces, constantly passing one into another and making up life itself. Graphically, the sign “yin and yang” is depicted as a circle in which two commas are inscribed: black with a white dot inside and white with a black dot. The black comma is the personification of yin (feminine), and the white comma is the personification of yang (masculine).
In ancient books, there is another symbolic image: a white tiger (yin) and a green dragon (yang) fighting among themselves.
In the art of feng shui, these two principles found expression in the interior of the room, in its atmosphere and atmosphere. Silence, coolness, dim lighting, low upholstered furniture with smooth and curved outlines, walls and carpets of dark colors indicate the presence of yin strength in the room. Conversely, the yang dominates in a brightly lit warm room in which noisy fun reigns or music plays loudly. In the interior, yang is manifested in high and light furniture made of solid materials (wood, plastic) with strict proportions. Changing the decor of the room or re-sticking the wallpaper, you can shift the balance between yin and yang in one direction or another.
The influence of one of the two forces is noticeable in the character of a person. Yin people are shy, laconic, loyal, cautious. And yang people are cheerful, active, energetic, sociable and independent.
In order to feel confident and comfortable in your room, you need to learn how to maintain a balance of yin and yang, taking into account the characteristics of your character. And it’s not at all necessary to completely change the atmosphere in the room – just use some simple Feng Shui tips and fill the room with positive energy.
One of the main elements of feng shui is qi energy. The term “qi” has many meanings, among which the most famous is the “source of power”, or “life energy”. Qi is the balance between yin and yang. The correct and continuous movement of this energy in space, its accumulation or dispersal create harmony and give a person success in life and health. But the lack of qi, according to ancient philosophers, certainly leads to failure in life.
Chi energy is present in man himself. Healthy, strong and balanced people have good qi, weak or sick – bad.
The art of Feng Shui is aimed at ensuring that a person can create favorable conditions around him for promoting qi and thereby attract good luck and prosperity.
