Introduction to 7 Chakras

All Chakras | Root | Sacral | SolarPlexus | Heart | Throat | ThirdEye | Crown

The entire universe is made up of energy, and your body is no exception.
Long before modern technology and science, ancient cultures knew that all living things carried within them a life force. They called these energy centers that move through us the seven Chakras. So what are the 7 Chakras?

We find the term Chakra mainly in the Hindu and Buddhist religions.
Chakra is an old Sanskrit word that literally translates as wheel.

This is because the life force, or prana, that moves within you is in constant motion. This spinning energy has 7 centers scattered throughout the body, starting at the base of the spine and moving up to the top of the head.

In a healthy and balanced person, the 7 Chakras provide exactly the right amount of energy to every part of the body, mind and soul.

However, if one of your Chakras is too open and turns too fast, or if it is too closed and moves too slowly, your health will suffer.

By knowing the 7 Chakras, one can become more in tune with the natural energy cycles of one’s body. You can use this information to link physical, emotional and spiritual imbalances to the chakras that drive them. Of course, with these discoveries, one can begin to balance the chakras and live a healthy and harmonious life.
Now let’s talk about the role each of them plays in your life. We will discuss the location and purpose of each chakra, we will also talk about the symptoms that can occur when they are balanced or unbalanced. Of course we will conclude each explanation with the way to heal, empower or tame each of them.

1st Chakra – Root Chakra – Muladhara

The official name of this chakra, Muladhara, comes from the words Mula, which means root, and Dhara, which means support.

Hence, the role of this chakra is to connect all of your energy with the Earth, which is called the base.

When you think about your root chakra, you think about your daily survival here on earth. The role of this energy center is to give you everything you need to survive. For us, in modern times, this usually means financial and emotional security.
Location: This chakra is located at the base of the spine, near the tailbone. It rises up to below your navel.
The Feeling of Balance: When your 1st chakra is in balance, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and peace when you think about things like money, security, and housing. You will feel connected to your human experience.

When is this chakra hyperactive? Our root chakra is used a lot, so having an overactive chakra is very common.

When is your 1st chakra overactive?

An overactive root chakra will cause problems such as anxiety and nervousness. This happens because fear is based on the need to survive. This is the role of fear – to keep us alive.

Thus an overactive root chakra will scream survival messages even when there is no real threat, so you will have anxiety problems. Physically, you may have symptoms of digestive problems, back problems, hip pain, ovarian cysts in women, or prostate problems in men.

Balance of the 1st chakra

In concrete terms, it is important to first of all take care of one’s survival needs. This chakra gives you the energy to do this, so use this energy to the best of your ability.

Then, calm this chakra by focusing on your connection with the mind. Take time each day to care for your soul by praying, meditating, or connecting with spiritual guides.

Volunteering and acts of kindness and compassion can also guide overactive energy away from your root chakra and into other energy centers in your body.

When is your 1st chakra too inactive?

Even if your survival needs have generally been met, this chakra may not have been very active throughout your life.

If this is the case, you may often have difficulty dreaming, concentrating, or simply feeling like your “head is in the clouds”. People may say you seem to have your “head in the clouds”.

These issues may not seem important, but it is important to be balanced and connected.

Energize your 1st chakra

If you find yourself disconnected from material existence, your 1st chakra may need to be invigorated.

You can do this by reconnecting to the earth while in nature. Gardening, swimming or even playing in the leaves can energize the root chakra.
Fortunately it is not difficult to “unclog” the chakras, stones are a good way to do this.
The stones associated with the 1st chakra are: red jasper, obsidian, bull’s eye, ruby, garnet, hematite, …

2nd Chakra – Sacred Chakra – Svadhishthana

The 2nd chakra is the sacred chakra or Svadhishthana which translates as “the place of the self”. This chakra is all about who you are as a human being and what you do with it.

This chakra gives you the creative energy to enjoy life.
Your Sacred Chakra is the home of the creative life force energy that helps you enjoy life here on Earth.

It is the energy that motivates you to enjoy the fruits of your labor, including engaging in enjoyable activities such as sex.
Location: The Sacred Chakra is located just below the navel and extends to its center.

Feeling balanced: When your 2nd chakra is in balance, you can enjoy the pleasures of life without overdoing it.

Sex, good food and creative activities will be stimulating and fun, and you will gain a sense of well-being and abundance.

When is your second chakra hyperactive?

The Sacred Chakra is often hyperactive when dealing with things like addiction and greed. Pleasure is a good thing, and you never have to feel guilty to enjoy the good things life has to offer.

However, if you find yourself enjoying things that are not nourishing for your soul or healthy for you, then your Sacred Chakra is probably out of balance.

Symptoms include addiction, obesity, hormone imbalances, and restlessness.

Balance of the 2nd chakra

To balance your 2nd chakra, it is helpful to draw energy from pleasure and the heart.

You can do this by asking yourself a simple question before each action. Ask yourself, “Will what I do will be good for me? Is it healthy and nutritious? What are the benefits of the action I intend to take?”

Taking the time to assess whether your actions are healthy is an excellent way to draw energy from this chakra.

When is your 2nd chakra too inactive?

If you have spent a lot of time focusing on very practical things without enjoying the fruits of your labor, your Sacred Chakra may not be active. Symptoms include depression, impotence, decreased libido, and a lack of passion and creativity.

Energize your 2nd chakra

Energizing your 2nd chakra is fun. In a nutshell: enjoy life! Create a work of art. Eat a healthy and enjoyable snack. Have sex with your partner.

Take some time for yourself and enjoy the amazing gifts the Earth has to offer.
The stones associated with the 2nd chakra are: Amber, Tiger’s Eye, Carnelian, Sunstone, …

3rd Chakra – The Solar Plexus Chakra – Manipura

The 3rd chakra is the solar plexus or Manipura which translates as “shining pearl”. It is in this chakra that self-confidence, identity and personal power are born.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation that you knew was not the right one for you?

You may have found yourself in a situation that you knew would work. Where did you hear these signals in your body? Most people say they feel this kind of cue in their “gut”.

In fact, this is the seat of your personal power, your solar plexus, and you can physically feel this confidence and wisdom in its position.

Location: The solar plexus begins in the center of the

The Feeling of Balance: When your 3rd chakra is in balance, you will feel a sense of wisdom, decision and personal power.

Many call this chakra the Warrior Chakra, because the feeling you get is comparable to that of a wise warrior going into battle.

He has the confidence to win and the wisdom to know the personal truth he is striving for.

When is your third chakra hyperactive?

The solar plexus chakra becomes hyperactive when the power we have over our life extends into the lives of others. When this chakra is too energized, one can quickly feel anger, the need for control, greed, and a lack of compassion or empathy.

You can suffer from digestive problems or even imbalances in internal organs such as the appendix, pancreas, liver and kidneys.

Balance your 3rd chakra

To balance your 3rd chakra, practice opening your heart with love and compassion. Meditate on sending love and kindness from your heart to everyone around you. Reorient the power you have and see yourself as a beacon of love.

When is your third chakra too inactive?

When our personal power is taken away from us by another person or by mitigating circumstances, we can find ourselves with a lack of energy in our 3rd chakra. When this happens, one can feel indecisive, insecure, shy and needy.

Energize your 3rd chakra

To energize your solar plexus, think about the things you know you are good at. Everyone has talents and skills.

Make your own list. Feel how confidence in these talents makes your stomach vibrate. Reinforce this feeling by creating your own affirmations.
The stones associated with the 3rd chakra are: Citrine, Yellow Jade, Sulfur, Pyrite, …

4th chakra – Heart chakra – Anahata

The 4th chakra is the Heart chakra or Anahata, which translates as “unharmed”. It is in this chakra that your love, compassion and kindness are strengthened.

It is not difficult to understand this chakra.

We all associate our heart with love, and that is exactly what the 4th chakra is. This includes love for others and love for oneself, which is why this chakra is also associated with health and healing.
Location: The heart chakra center is located just above the heart and radiates to the breastbone and throat.

Feeling balanced: When your 4th chakra is in balance, you are able to feel love for yourself and for others as well. Even when difficult things happen, one can still see the compassion and kindness of others.

When is the fourth chakra hyperactive?

When the heart chakra becomes hyperactive, we lose our personal limitations and start making unhealthy choices, all in the name of love.

It is important to treat yourself with the same compassion and kindness that you give to others, but when your Heart chakra becomes hyperactive, you may find yourself putting the needs of others before your own.

Symptoms include a rapid heartbeat, palpitations, heartburn, and relationship problems.

Balance of the 4th chakra

Balancing your 4th chakra means taking that love you have given to others and focusing some of it on yourself. You can do this by doing something every day that is right for you:

  • Take a relaxing bath
  • Treat yourself to a massage
  • Meditate on sending compassion to yourself

When is your 4th chakra too inactive?

Many people have an inactive 4th chakra. Life can send us a lot of heartache as a way to teach us lessons about ourselves and the world around us. But, it can be difficult not to take these lessons personally.

When your heart chakra is not active, you will feel that it is difficult to be truly close to someone. It’s like building a wall around your heart and not letting anyone in.
Physically, one can feel disconnected from one’s body and suffer from circulation problems.

Energize your 4th chakra

Energizing the heart chakra can be very challenging.

Many of us have worked hard to build our walls and defenses, and it’s not always easy to tear them down. It starts with loving yourself first.

Show appreciation for yourself and give yourself the love you want others to give you. Then spread this compassion to those around you.
The stones associated with the 4th chakra are: Green Aventurine, Emerald, Rose Quartz, Rhodochrosite, Unakite, …

5th Chakra – Throat Chakra – Vishuddha

The 5th chakra is the throat chakra or Vishuddha which translates as “very pure”.

This chakra gives voice to your personal truths. Where does your voice come from? What gives you the energy to talk?

On a physical level, of course, the answer is your throat, but on an energetic level, this energy actually comes from your 5th chakra. This chakra allows you to speak your truth with clarity.

Sitting just above the heart, the throat chakra is connected to the compassion and love you have for yourself and others.
Location: The center of the Throat Chakra is right between the collarbones, and radiates to the center of the heart and the center of the eyes.

Feeling balanced: When your throat chakra is in balance, you will be able to speak clearly with love, kindness and truth.

You will know exactly which words are suitable for each situation. Talking to a balanced throat chakra will enlighten and inspire those around you.

When is your fifth chakra hyperactive?

Our 5th chakra becomes hyperactive when we have spent a lot of time trying to make our voices heard.

If you have often felt ignored or invalidated in expressing yourself, you may have tried to overcome this situation by giving yourself a stronger voice.

Those with overactive throat chakras often interrupt others, often being told that they have a loud voice or that they “like to hear people talk”. Physically, you can suffer from sore throats, frequent infections, tooth decay or canker sores.

Balance your 5th chakra

Balancing the 5th chakra is as easy as thinking before speaking.
Trust Buddha, before you say anything, ask yourself,

“Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it madness?”

When is your 5th chakra too inactive?

Sometimes we have been so ignored and invalidated that we react in the opposite way – we muffle our voices and never tell our truth.

If you have an inactive throat chakra, you have probably been called shy or silent. You may not be able to express your emotions or find it difficult to find words when trying to speak your truth.

Physical symptoms often include digestive problems, as energy diverted from the throat chakra often ends up being “swallowed” or sent to the 3rd chakra.

Energize your 5th chakra

Speak your truth!

Even if there is no one to listen to you, practice expressing your emotions and truths when you are alone.

It is very common to think that we should only speak when someone else is listening, but if you are trying to energize your third chakra, it does not matter if it is received by an ear other than yours.
The stones associated with the 5th chakra are: Aquamarine, Blue Chalcedony, Celestine, Turquoise, Sodalite, …

6th Chakra – The Third Eye Chakra – Ajna

The sixth chakra is the Third Eye Ajna Chakra which translates as “beyond wisdom”. This chakra opens the mind to information beyond the material world and the 5 senses.

Extrasensory perception, intuition or psychic energy, all come from the Third Eye.

There is actually a small pinecone-shaped gland in the brain that absorbs light. This gland, the pineal gland, helps you feel awake during the day and sleep at night.

Long before brain imaging, ancient cultures were aware of the existence of this Third Eye, and they also realized that it receives information from sources outside the five senses.
Location: The center of the Third Eye is between the eyebrows. It radiates to the mouth and top of the head.

Feeling in balance: A balanced third eye is a beautiful thing, and that is exactly what one tries to achieve when embarking on the path of spiritual development.

When your third eye chakra is in balance, you will also feel in harmony with the physical and material world. You will receive psychic information as often as you receive information from your 5 physical senses, but it will not overwhelm you.

When is the 6th chakra hyperactive?

It is highly unlikely that your sixth chakra is hyperactive.

Most of us are very attuned to our physical reality and have a hard time receiving information outside of it.

That said, if you have a hyperactive third eye, you probably spend most of your time absorbed in psychic activities like tarot reading, astrology, and paranormal experiences.

When your third eye chakra is overactive, these activities become overwhelming and prevent you from having a human experience.

Balance your 6th chakra

If you are feeling consumed by psychic information, take the time to remember that you are a creature of the Earth.

Go to the beach and feel the sand on your toes. Dig the earth in your garden. Connect your body to the earth and repeat to yourself: “I am a human being. I am a human being”.

When is the 6th chakra too inactive?

Most people have an inactive 6th chakra.

We live in a world that often invalidates intuitive development.

For this reason, we close our third eye and ignore our psychic experiences. By doing so, we can feel disconnected from spiritual experiences. Physically, you may have headaches or allergy problems and sinus problems.

Energize your 6th chakra

You will need practice to energize your third eye. You will need to spend some time in quiet and solitary meditation. In the beginning, get used to the feeling of focusing on signals outside your physical body.

Listen to your mind and recognize what you are feeling. By practicing this, it will become easier and easier to connect with the energy of the Third Eye.
The stones associated with the 6th chakra are: Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Blue Sapphire, Sodalite, Fluorite, …

7th Chakra – The Crown Chakra – Sahasrara

The 7th chakra is the crown or Sahasrara, which translates as “a thousand petals”. This chakra is the pure energy of consciousness.

The crown chakra is one of these hard-to-explain energies. It can be related to magnetism.

When you hold a piece of metal to a magnet, you can feel the energy and tension, but you can’t see it. The energy of consciousness is everywhere and in everything. It connects us to the whole universe.

Our personal consciousness is located in the 7th chakra, but it is actually more like the seed of a universal energy than something personal or individual.
Location: The crown chakra center is located at the top of the head. It radiates between your eyes and then extends infinitely upward and outward, connecting you to the energy of the rest of the universe.

The Feeling of Balance: Achieving a balanced crown chakra is the goal of every spiritual warrior, and it’s not easy to achieve. One can think of the Buddhist concept of nirvana.

Once achieved, you are no longer truly human – you have overcome suffering and death.

Of course, it is the search for that balance that brings us happiness, health and wisdom. Trying to balance your 7th chakra will align and balance the other chakras.

When is this chakra hyperactive?

It is not possible to have an overactive crown chakra.

Because it is the seat of universal energy, it is innate and infinite. In other words, one cannot exist in the material world and be defeated by the energy of consciousness.

Balance your 7th chakra

Since no one has an overactive crown chakra, there is no need to calm down their energy.

When is this chakra too inactive?

An inactive 7th chakra means you are human.

It’s just like being human. Some people may be closer to it, while others may be far away. Either way, practicing spiritual development and balancing the other chakras will bring you closer to experiencing energetic awareness in your crown chakra.

Energize your 7th chakra

Instead of trying to open and activate the crown chakra, focus on balancing the other 6 chakras.

Meditate and connect with the mind and balance these activities by living and enjoying your human experience.

It’s like trying to win an Olympic gold medal. The aim is not only to win the medal, but to train the body and mind first. The only way to achieve such an ambitious goal is to focus on small achievable goals first.
The stones associated with the 6th chakra are: Amethyst, Rock Crystal, Milky Quartz, Moonstone, …

How to cleanse Chakras

As we have already said, the chakras can sometimes become blocked and this can cause many problems in daily life. So, to regain health, there are some things that can be done to open the chakras.

Meditation

Meditation is perhaps the most powerful tool for opening chakras and more. Not only does it open your chakras, but it calms you down and improves your quality of life in general.

However, chakra meditation is a process, and if you really want to do it right, you may need time.

The use of Mudra and Mantra

Mudras are specific hand positions that can help open the chakras. They are a perfect complement to meditation, so don’t hesitate to try them.

As for mantras, they are sounds that can be chanted again during meditation.

Each chakra has its own mudras and mantras, so you can experience them and see how it feels.

Chakra stones

Crystals are a powerful tool for opening the chakras. When we interact with them, our energy and their energy combine, affecting our mental and physical health.

Thus, by using these crystals, we can promote energy movement and open our chakras.
But remember this, don’t just try to open your crown chakra; focus on maintaining and balancing all other energies in your body.
