White Chestnut in Bach flower therapy

properties, benefits, uses

White Chestnut ( Æsculus hippocastanum ), the tree of the Ippocastan or, is majestic and visible and belongs to the small family of the Ippocastanaceae. It is the same tree whose buds are used for the preparation of Chestnut Bud. It is an evergreen plant, with  leaves  divided into groups of five or seven, characterized by a coating of the fruits wrapped in a protective layer often aculeate.

The flowers, on the other hand, are of various colors from white-yellow to pink-red. Among these, the upper flowers are male while the lower ones are female. This plant loves the warmer areas of the Northern Hemisphere, avoiding the north and the mountains. Originally from Turkey, it was introduced to Europe in the 16th century.

White Chestnut : Properties and benefits

Dr. Edward Bach states that this remedy is suitable for: “ … those who cannot prevent their Mind from being constantly invaded by thoughts, ideas and reasoning that they do not want. This usually happens at times when their interest in the present is not strong enough to completely occupy their mind. Thoughts, even if rejected, invariably return, as in a whirlwind, causing a kind of mental torture. The presence of these unpleasant thoughts takes away your peace and prevents you from concentrating on work or on daily pleasure… ”.

The White Chestnut type is neither lucid nor objective, on the contrary he is often absent and not very concentrated, he does not find the solution to problems, he mulls over thoughts that take away useful energy. His lips are in motion: he argues with himself all the time. He has tension in his face and forehead, an unstable gait and contracted muscles.

In communication he repeats himself frequently and is often tired because he is imprisoned by his “ape-like” mind. His head is like a room with an echo : cogita without respite. He thinks and talks to himself continuously without a clear direction: disorder, confusion.

The benefits of this flower are to transform the mind, opening the door to mental peace and silence, allowing thought to rediscover its natural function, in balance, at the service of the person’s psychophysical unity. Finally, White Chestnut helps to clarify the mind by avoiding continuous and unprofitable monologues.

• Initial-inhibited emotions (before taking the flower):

“I just can’t help thinking about it . ” Continuous mental rumination , persistent almost obsessive thoughts.

• Evolutionary-loose emotions (after taking the flower):

Silence and clarity of mind , clarity , positive vision with confidence and peace.

White Chestnut : uses

White Chestnut is suitable for people who are prisoners of their own thoughts, who obsessively rethink a specific event. This remedy is strongly indicated for those who are tormented by persistent thoughts and turn around them as if it were a circle.

They may suffer from nervous tics, stress , headaches of tension source and anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive behavior, sweating, dizziness.

White Chestnut is a valuable remedy for those who have frozen , have mental speech, who have entered a “loop”.
